We’re worn out. We’re fragile. We’re on edge. We just read through a full trilogy in one thirty day period. A freaky trilogy that gave us nightmares. (But our chat with Jeff VanderMeer before this week was a desire. We’ll submit that upcoming week.) In other words and phrases, we need to have a crack. A possibility to obvious our heads of moaning spirit creatures and paranoia-inducing bureaucracies and threatening lighthouses. So for this month’s e-book club, let us read through … some comics! Two volumes looks right.
And because we’re experience extra ridiculous, we’re not just heading to read through one comic series—we’re heading to read through two. (Is not that just nuts?) And as an alternative of examining two disparate comics, we’re examining two that are related—literally. The initial, which we’ll read through just before upcoming week, is Volume 1 of Sexual intercourse Criminals, penned by Matt Fraction. The 2nd, which we’ll read through the adhering to week, is Volume 1 of Bitch Earth, which is penned by Fraction’s spouse, Kelly Sue DeConnick. The Portland-based mostly comics power couple does some of the most effective function in the type, and we assume it’s time for the WIRED Ebook Club to engage with it. And while we do, we’ll apply our rested, energized minds to the issue of sexual intercourse in comics, and how a spouse and spouse separately confront the obstacle.
